Every two years, the French-speaking congress “Electronique de Puissance du Futur” (EPF) aims at gathering the academic and industrial power electronics communities. This periodically event follows the evolution of this discipline and, for its 14 th anniversary, this conference was organized by the IMS – Bordeaux laboratory (Integration from Material to System laboratory in Bordeaux), with the support of the University of Bordeaux 1, the Bordeaux Institute of Technology and the National Scientific Research Center (CNRS). EPF 2012 has gathered more than 130 participants with 73 communications through 6 oral sessions and 2 poster sessions. This conference was an opportunity to focus on major topics of power electronics such as semiconductors and integration, passive components and reliability as well as energy management. Beyond these major recurrent topics, specific intere sts was also related on SiC and GaN semiconductor components as well as wide variety of applications that demonstrate the large impact of power electronics in many sectors. Among the 73 submitted papers, the Scientific Committee of EPF has selected 10 outstanding contributions for publication in a special issue of EJEE Journal. In particular, this selection presents some researches on multicellular converters, packaging and drivers. Let us note that the subjects covered through this selection could not be exhaustive and representative of the entire conference sessions. However, they show the diversity of power electronics and the major role of this discipline in electrical energy conversion.
